The Wedding Expo

Tuesday, July 14th, 2009

I had a stall at my first every wedding expo last weekend. I didn’t really know what to expect so I think I probably over prepared.

I took lots of mud cake samples as well - chocolate, white chocolate, white chocolate/lemon/coconut (yummy) and jaffa. My big winner were the cupcakes of course. Everyone loves cupcakes.

I was running out of time the day before so I quickly did this bow on top of the cutting cake. Thank goodness for Planet Cake their great ideas!!

How gorgeous are these white paper cases for cupcakes. I think they are just beautiful.

The black ones are really lovely and so delicate.

Garden cupcakes

Wednesday, May 13th, 2009

I have just finished a batch of vanilla cupcakes for a morning tea with friends. It’s beautiful weather here so I thought a flower theme would be nice. I love little cupcake roses and I do them whenever I can.

These ones of course are everyone’s favourite. My favourite are the little blue ones next. They are made with melted fondant icing which is really yummy. At least I think so.

Too many to choose from. So much for my diet (or anybody else’s in fact).

This is totally unrelated to garden cupcakes but as I was flicking through different sites, I came across the cutest cupcake topper - a retro baby - from cupcakeswirl.com

Wouldn’t you just love to put that baby on top of a cake! I haven’t seen them out here but when I do!!!!

off to market

Sunday, July 27th, 2008

I have just got back from the Nowra market. The weather held off pretty well - just a little rain. Apart from selling cupcakes, its nice to have a bit of a chat and see who’s around.

I made some new bisuits to sell as well. Thought I would see how well people liked them. I based the pirate and little girl on some cupcakes I have done. The dinasours with names written on them would be quite cute at a children’s party as a prize or part of a party bag.

Icing

Wednesday, July 23rd, 2008

I’m a big fan of buttercream icing. I could eat it by the spoonful. I have really only ever made the butter and icing sugar variety but have been keen to try something else. So I tried to make Italian buttercream (I think). It is a bit fiddlier and takes a bit more time - but I have to say it was delicious.

I will try it again soon.

Finally…….

Tuesday, July 22nd, 2008

I’m finally writing something again. It has been a few weeks. I have been busy and then my camera broke (which is like loosing an arm). It’s still not fixed. In fact, I am still waiting on the quote - I think its because I live in the country. Those things are hard to get used to. Only one shop to take the camera to and then they send it to Sydney and…..Let’s hope it comes back soon. AND I’ve had cakes to do and haven’t been able to take photos.

So I will just add some from a few weeks ago.

Last time I wrote I was preparing for Lily’s fifth birthday. Vanilla butterfly cupcakes with pink vanilla buttercream. We had lunch with lots of friends at Bicentenial Park. Freezing, windy day, but lots of fun.

more birthday cake!!

Friday, June 20th, 2008

Lily turned 5 this week. Where does the time go? She has already had two birthday cakes. This weekend we are having a party for her in Sydney at Bicentenial Park - lets hope the rain stops. I had promised a dolphin cake but I have run out of time. Maybe next birthday. So, I think it will be cupcakes. Don’t know what yet - they are my favourite things to make though so I’m happy.

It has been overcast and raining this long weekend in Nowra. I quite like those sorts of weekends. Nice and cosy. We had one sick child so it gave us a good excuse to stay in and give her a bit of tlc. I am trying hard to get the word out about my cakes. It’s all very daunting.I haven’t done a letterbox drop yet. I think that will be next week. I am really keen to get the baby/new mum/siblings hampers on my site. I will feel like things are really moving then. I am excited to get them happening because I think they are really lovely. I would have loved cupcakes when I was in hospital after having a baby. It’s the one time that I think we can eat as much of anything we want. So based on that theory, I have put together beautiful hampers, with beautiful cupcakes and baby gifts. It will be great to get them out.

Baby shoes

Saturday, June 7th, 2008

I had some time by myself yesterday and I decided to try to make some baby booties. I have had the patterns for some time and just hadn’t got around to it. I really don’t know much about sewing so most of it is hit and miss. I have been looking for products to put into baby hampers and things are so expensive…I thought maybe I would just make some things myself. I will have to keep practising of course - there are quite a few mistakes and they aren’t even finished.

After I did them I thought I probably should have made two of the same shoe. Oh well….next time maybe.

Soccer and Cupcakes!

Tuesday, June 3rd, 2008

Today I have been busily preparing cupcakes, gifts and boxes for some photos. I never really think how time consuming this is until it starts. I am really keen on getting my cake hampers sorted and looking beautiful. Of course, while I was doing that, I realised how little I have specifically for boys. Having two boys myself, I thought about what they both like - soccer -of course. So I made a few soccer ball cupcakes. I’m pretty sure my kids will eat them if nobody else does.
