Sweet and Flour stickers - at last

Monday, July 28th, 2008

I have been waiting on these stickers for so long. I ordered them from a site on etsy.com, which is a fantastic site if you want to buy anything handmade. They have taken such a long time to get here. The woman doing them forgot about them twice! Then she mixed mine with someone else’s order - luckily realising in time. Hence, I’m definitely looking for a new sticker person - does anyone know one?

I also got my flyers back about a fortnight ago. I waited a whle for those as well. When I got them back, there was a spelling mistake. The suburb I’m based in was spelt wrong - a bit of a mistake I can’t really get away with. It does pay however, to complain and I got another lot sent to me (which was really great).

Thomas the Tank Engine

Monday, July 28th, 2008

This is my first attempt at a Thomas the Tank Engine cake. It was for a third birthday party. The birthday boy was very pleased.

I made a few little vanilla shortbread train biscuits to match.

off to market

Sunday, July 27th, 2008

I have just got back from the Nowra market. The weather held off pretty well - just a little rain. Apart from selling cupcakes, its nice to have a bit of a chat and see who’s around.

I made some new bisuits to sell as well. Thought I would see how well people liked them. I based the pirate and little girl on some cupcakes I have done. The dinasours with names written on them would be quite cute at a children’s party as a prize or part of a party bag.

Icing

Wednesday, July 23rd, 2008

I’m a big fan of buttercream icing. I could eat it by the spoonful. I have really only ever made the butter and icing sugar variety but have been keen to try something else. So I tried to make Italian buttercream (I think). It is a bit fiddlier and takes a bit more time - but I have to say it was delicious.

I will try it again soon.

Naming cake

Tuesday, July 22nd, 2008

I did this Naming Cake for a friend of mine. I have never been to a naming ceremony before and little Charli’s mum was very generous in letting me decide what to do. I thought I’d go cute and girlie. I based the rabbits on some characters in a book by Karen Davies called “Sparkling Cake Designs”. It has some lovely ideas.

I did a two tier cake - the bottom tier was a rich chocolate and the top was white chocolate mud and coconut cake.

Finally…….

Tuesday, July 22nd, 2008

I’m finally writing something again. It has been a few weeks. I have been busy and then my camera broke (which is like loosing an arm). It’s still not fixed. In fact, I am still waiting on the quote - I think its because I live in the country. Those things are hard to get used to. Only one shop to take the camera to and then they send it to Sydney and…..Let’s hope it comes back soon. AND I’ve had cakes to do and haven’t been able to take photos.

So I will just add some from a few weeks ago.

Last time I wrote I was preparing for Lily’s fifth birthday. Vanilla butterfly cupcakes with pink vanilla buttercream. We had lunch with lots of friends at Bicentenial Park. Freezing, windy day, but lots of fun.
